Prof. Hazel Gachuga
Member representing the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM)

Prof. Hazel Gachunga is specialized in Human Resource, Performance Management, Organizational Behaviour and Change Management. She teaches and consults extensively both nationally and internationally in the areas listed and especially change management. Prof Hazel Gachunga has been appointed as a visiting lecturer in the University of Western Australia and the Strathmore University Business School.

Academics
Prof Hazel is a holder of a split site Doctorate in Business Administration from the University of Nairobi/University of Sheffield and has undertaken the International Faculty Development Programme at the IESE Business School in Spain. She has also conducted extensive research and published in the areas of organizational change, performance management, work life balance, organizational justice, organizational commitment, organizational politics and leadership from the University of Sheffield, United Kingdom. Hazel has been a lead consultant in the evaluation of companies for the Company of Year Awards (COYA/OPI) hosted by the Kenya Institute of Management. This has given her a wealth of exposure on leadership and change dynamics of winning companies in the East and Central African Region. She has been a key assessor for the Manager of the Year Awards (MOYA) and Chief Executive Officer CEO Award.

Certifications
She is a trained Leadership Challenge Facilitator, an Accredited Certified Coach (ACC) by the International Coaching Federation (ICF,USA) . Hazel is a Certified Culture and Change Transformation Professional and a Certified Emotional Intelligence Trainer and Coach who works closely with leaders in their journey of Leadership transformation at both organizational and at a personal level. She has coached many executives. Hazel is certified by PROSCI ( USA) as a Change Professional and a Trainer of Trainers for Change Management. She has also been certified by Being First USA as an Advanced Conscious Change Leader and is extensively trained in Change Management. She is certified as a Balanced Scorecard Expert by BSC International (USA) .

Recent Change Management Consultancy and Training
Hazel has been a lead change management consultant in projects in Africa. Recent projects include leading HR Change Transformation for 35 Ministries in the Government of Lesotho a World Bank Project. Leading Institutionalization of Agricultural Innovation Platforms in Rwanda Agricultural Board ( A CIMMYT Project), Leading Culture Transformation in Healthcare, Insurance and Banking Kenya. She is the Managing Partner Interlink Management and Development Consultants Limited and has trained executives and consulted extensively in the areas of Change Management , Culture Transformation, Leadership Development and Talent Management in local, regional and international bodies across Africa. She has consulted widely for private, non profit and government institutions in Africa.

Memberships
Hazel has served on national boards such as the Technical and Vocational and Educational Authority Board as the chair of the Finance and General Purpose Committee for 6 years . She serves in the The Institute of Human Resource Management , Professional Examinations Board (HRMPEB) as the chair of the Examinations committee. She is the International Ambassador for the Human Resource Management and Organizational Behaviour Committee on the International Academy of Management. She is also a member of the Association for Change Management Professionals. Hazel is also a member of the Institute of Directors Kenya.
